Hanny Veerkamp almost has to break her neck for it, but then she also has something: after a long time, there was finally a camera crew in her living room again yesterday. “It’s going shit!”
Hanny Veerkamp never liked the fact that her TV fame was so fleeting. She was a celebrated ‘ordinary Dutch person’ who was visited en masse by Dutch celebrities – as long as there was a camera – and so she was all alone on her houseboat again. “I won’t name names, but that’s how it works,” she recently complained.
‘How are you?’
Good news for Hanny: she was on TV again last night. The bad news: she had to break half her neck while shopping. The Man Bijt Hond celebrity suffered a terrible crash at the Gideon Italiaander store and is now severely damaged in her houseboat – she can only move her eyelids.
Well, Shownieuws star reporter Thom Goderie wanted to see that in real life. He traveled to Hannie with a camera crew to ask her the question of questions: “How are you?”
‘Totally shit’
A no-brainer of course. Hanny: “Yes, in Amsterdam style? Shit. A lot of pain.”
Thom wants all the juice. “And then you lie there in that store and then?”
Hanny: “I was there for half an hour before the ambulance came and then taken to the hospital. I lay there for six hours. They did everything right away, but I think I will go back soon, because the cast is so tight and I am in a lot of pain.”
‘Honey, right’
No shortage of pity. Thom: “Ah, darling, right. Ahhh.”
Hanny: “I don’t look good, do I?”
Thom: “Oh, you’re still beautiful.”
Hanny: “Yes, bye.”
Thom: “Yes, that’s how it is, isn’t it? How long do you have to lie like this?”
Hanny: “That will take six weeks before it diminishes a bit, and that arm will also last six to eight weeks.”
‘I can’t do anything’
That’s a long time, Thom thinks. It really scares him. “Wow.”
Thom then wants to put an end to it. “I’m going to leave you alone and I’ll put those flowers on the water for you, because you have to lie down.”
Huh? Already?! Hanny is far from finished! Does everyone know now that she is badly damaged on that couch? “I can’t do anything. I can’t stand, I can’t sit, I can’t do anything,” she emphasizes.
Then the camera turns away. The package is collected…
