Hannover 96 reportedly interested in RB Leipzig’s Marcel Halstenberg

Trained in Hanover

Hannover 96 could face a “Picture“According to the report, the former pupil Marcel Halstenberg from RB Leipzig strives. According to the newspaper, sports director Marcus Mann expressed his interest to the consulting agency “True Sports”, in whose portfolio the nine-time national player is the most valuable professional.

Despite the market value of currently 4 million euros, which is not low for a second division club, an agreement is not unthinkable, according to the newspaper, because Leipzig should be ready on the one hand to comply with a change request from the left-back, who is still tied until 2024. On the other hand, Halstenberg is not averse to moving to Hanover. This assumption could also be based on the fact that some time ago Halstenberg expressed the wish to one day move back to the Lower Saxony state capital with his family.

Halstenberg was trained there before he was drawn to BVB as a junior. Born in Laatzen, he took his first steps as a professional in the 3rd division with Dortmund’s second team before moving to Hamburg for FC St. Pauli on a free transfer in 2013. For the Kiezklub, the sale to RB Leipzig for 3.5 million euros two years later was the most lucrative in FCSP history up to that point. Whether Hannover would also be able to offer a coherent fee or whether a change after the end of the contract next year would be more realistic is not clear from the information available so far. Hannover is said to have already asked last year.
