Diemer’s contract in Rotterdam runs until 2023. For the 2020/21 season, the native of Leeuwarden was signed for a transfer fee of 1.2 million euros. However, the professional looked back on the past year and a half, in which he played 31 league games for Feyenoord, with mixed feelings. “I was quickly given a stamp at Feyenoord. I came from the little Fortuna Sittard, couldn’t show anything yet, but I was already written off,” says Diemers, who was initially able to fight for a regular place under Slot’s predecessor Dick Advocaat, but after suffering a knee injury and changing coaches to Slot, he was no longer able to do so was.
“It wasn’t a fair fight. I was appreciated internally, but that wasn’t the case externally,” the midfielder continued. The opportunity to prove himself again with the Lower Saxony second division team and to get regular playing time came at the right time for him. “I would like to stay abroad. I’ll see if that’s in Hanover or somewhere else. Anyway, I like it. I am currently staying in a hotel and will be staying there for the next few months.”
Christiansen, Hanke, Joselu & Co.: The most expensive additions to Hannover 96
He only wants to make a decision about his future after the end of the season, before that his focus is on staying up in the league at 96. Under coach Christoph Dabrowski, Diemers had played eleven of 13 possible games since moving and was at the beginning of his corona disease Set in the starting lineup in April. It remains to be seen whether a permanent commitment from the Dutchman is also conceivable for the Reds, whose squad planning is currently faltering due to the uncertain sporting situation.
Ten contracts expire at Hannover in the summer, and the future of coach Dabrowski is still unclear at Maschsee. As of now, Gaël Ondoua (26) and Tim Walbrecht (20) are available for Diemers’ position in defensive midfield.
