Hannover 96 celebrated its first win of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga. Coach Stefan Leitl’s team won 1-0 (0-0) against Jahn Regensburg late on Sunday.
An own goal by Steve Breitkreuz (83rd) ensured the success of the Hanoverians, who had previously lost twice and drawn once. For Jahn it is the first defeat of the season.
The hosts attacked the game, they combined well in the Regensburg penalty area, but there was a lack of consistency when it came to creating chances.
The guests were more dangerous: Prince Owusu (36th/45th + 2) twice appeared free in front of 2014 world champion Ron-Robert Zieler, twice the goalkeeper parried first-class.
After the break, the game flattened out, especially from Hannover there was not enough in this phase. Regensburg took advantage of this and tested Zieler again. After a free kick from Leon Guwara, Jan Elvedi (75′) failed from a tight angle.
But suddenly Hannover again: On the other side, Jahn keeper Dejan Stojanovic saved a header from substitute Nicolo Tresoldi (79th). Shortly thereafter, Breitkreuz deflected a shot from Antonio Foti, who had also just come in, into the goal.
