Hanneke jokes that at the age of 83 she is a kind of ‘bionic’ person. “I have new lenses in my eye, a pair of artificial teeth, a piece of iron in my foot and a smaller stomach.” She doesn’t understand that many young women use botox these days. “Why? My own face is too old for a lot of make-up, but I like it. So it’s balancing on an old tightrope.”
“Before you know it they will get prostate cancer”
The former presenter says that she is now at a point in her life when she no longer misses a man. “That you have to be in bed with someone over 80: just visualize that. And before you know it, they get prostate cancer and you have to take care of someone.”
“I seem happy ever since”
The fact that she no longer needs a man probably also has to do with the fact that she is very comfortable in her own skin these days. Something that hasn’t always been the case. “After a few TV jobs stopped, I got a little down. Fortunately, there was a fantastic psychiatrist at the time. My son Gijs thinks that I have also improved quite a bit from the pill she prescribed me. Just a little bit every day and since then I just seem happy.”
