Hanko Sushi will be known by a different name from now on. The reason for the reform is the changed taste of Finns and their interest in Asian cuisine.

The well-known long-established sushi restaurant chain Hanko Sushi is changing its name. The new name of the chain’s restaurants is Hanko Aasia.
During November, three Hanko Sushis will be rebranded as Hanko Asia, but all 19 restaurants in the chain are to get a new name. The rest of the restaurants will change during the coming winter and spring.
The reason for the reform is the growing and diversified demand for Asian food among Finns.
– We researched and tested what Finns think is the best Asia. If Hanko Sushi focused on Japan, Hanko Aasia also opens its doors to India, Korea, China and Thailand, restaurant group manager Joni Heinikoski says in the announcement.
According to the release, the renewed menu has eight hot dishes. The new menu features a wide range of cuisines from different countries.

– The new dishes are a strong spread of classics for the Finnish taste. I think that the biggest attractions at the beginning will be butter chicken and chicken katsu, which we got a lot of good feedback on in the tests, he estimates.
In addition to the name and list renewal, the appearance of the restaurants will change.
The Finns answered

More than a third of the respondents considered Chinese food culture their favorite. Japanese and Indian food culture followed. Finns were also asked about their favorite dish in Asian cuisine.
In the survey results, a selection of sushi, pad thai, tikka masala, deep-fried chicken and butter chicken emerged.
