It turns out again and again that it is a certain type of people who develop within the framework of the promotion company committed to the students of the Technical University of Lübeck. The quote “Give me the opportunity to think and work for you quite often” comes from Mr. Weidner’s great-grandfather, who founded the “Gustav Mankenberg Armaturenfabrik” in 1885, but it also reflects his great-grandson’s attitude to life. Axel Weidner was born in Lübeck, is a family man and has been Managing Director of Mankenberg GmbH from Lübeck since 1996. The position on the board of the development society of the Technical University of Lübeck was just one in a long list of honorary posts that Mr. Weidner has held.
A position in which he campaigned for committed students to be given financial support if the university budget did not have enough money to implement their ideas.
His successor, André Dylong, who together with Klaus Linke and Prof. Dr. André Drews forms the board of directors of the development company. André Dylong was born in Lübeck, alumnus of THLübeck, married, father of four daughters and has been Managing Director of Druckguss Service Deutschland GmbH from Lübeck since 2018. After a successful career as an officer in the Bundeswehr (German Federal Armed Forces), several foreign assignments and numerous awards, the trained industrial engineer embarked on an academic path. From 2011 to 2015 he studied industrial engineering at the (then still) Lübeck University of Applied Sciences and worked at the same time as a student trainee at Druckguss Service Deutschland GmbH, where he worked his way up to managing director after graduating.
The local company stands for innovative products and services and recruits specifically from the Lübeck schools and especially the Technical University.
In his own words, this honorary post gives him the opportunity to “give something back” to TH Lübeck and his students.
