Handball World Cup: Germany is missing a cabin DJ

Barely a week before the start of the World Cup against the Asian champions Qatar, the German handball players are still looking for a musical warm-up for the final round games.

“We don’t have a cabin DJ yet,” said Captain Johannes Golla of the “German Press Agency”.

Most recently, right winger Timo Kastening took on this task. However, the 27-year-old from Bundesliga club MT Melsungen is missing due to a cruciate ligament tear at the World Cup from January 11th to 29th in Poland and Sweden, where, alongside Qatar, Serbia and Algeria are the preliminary round opponents of the DHB selection.

Before Kastening, veteran Patrick Groetzki had provided good mood music for the German handball players for a few years. “I used to be a cabin DJ, but I didn’t take over this task from Timo,” said the 33-year-old.

Captain Golla is nevertheless confident: “There will definitely be someone who will pick out a few songs before the games.”
