After the victory over Quintus, Handball Venlo can hardly miss a place in the final for the national title.
The team of coach Robin Gielen, with the support of the home crowd, managed to treat Quintus to a 30-27 defeat and thus recovered for the unexpected defeat in the away game in Kwintsheul.
Exciting final phase
With a loss against Quintus, the Venlo Eredivisie team was eliminated for the final place in the battle for the national title. The home team made it difficult itself in the final phase. A safely built lead of five goals was almost lost in the closing minutes of the game.
Nice lead
Handball Venlo is in the lead with two games to go, three points ahead of number two Quintus. This weekend Robin Gielen’s team will play at home against Volendam. With a win at the lower placed Volendam, Handball Venlo is definitely certain of a place in the final.
Quick and nimble wins too
In the other championship group, Vlug and Lenig from Geleen won the away match against Kwiek 28-27. In that group, VOC takes the lead with four points ahead of VZV. Vlug en Lenig is in third place in this group. Just like Handball Venlo, the Amsterdam team VOC is a favorite for the upcoming national title.
