The handball players of the SG BBM Bietigheim have won the Supercup for the fifth time. Also under the new coach Jakob Vestergaard the SG continued the successful series against the HSG Bensheim/Auerbach.
The clear favorite and record winner defeated HSG Bensheim/Auerbach in the new edition of the DHB Cup final on Saturday 34:23 (15:14) and secured the first title of the season in Ludwigsburg for the fourth time in a row. “We went full throttle for over 60 minutes, at first it didn’t look like such a clear victory,” said national player Xenia Smits on “Eurosport”.
Bietigheim has not lost in 74 games in Germany
Best thrower for Bietigheim – for now 74 games at national level without defeat – was Veronika Mala with seven goals. At the other end, former international captain Kim Naidzinavicius scored six goals for the Flames against her former club.
For Bietigheim’s coach Jakob Vestegaard it is the first title with the new team. He took over from his predecessor Markus Gaugisch in the summer. Under his direction, the SG BBM won the DHB Cup in 2021, 2022 and 2023, the DHB Supercup in 2021, and in 2022 and 2023 the German championship and in 2022 the EHF European League.
