Handball players Aalsmeer have to stand still against Lions

Aalsmeer had to swallow a loss against Lions: 34-38. In a goal-rich duel between the numbers one and two in the HandbalNL League, Aalsmeer fell just short of scoring.

The handball players of Aalsmeer had a tough job with Lions. The two are the leaders in the Handball NL League. Lions has not yet lost in that, while Aalsmeer has already had to swallow one defeat. The game went pretty evenly in Sporthal de Bloemhof. The team of coach Bert Bouwer, who is leaving Aalsmeer after this season, seemed to go into the break with a lead. Because Lions had a strong final phase, the Limburgers went to rest with a 15-17 lead.

After the break, Lions was slightly better in finishing. As a result, the visitors held onto the lead, despite Aalsmeer’s fighting spirit. During the second half, the deficit remained around four or five points each time. Aalsmeer also failed to really change that. Both teams scored quite well, but slowly the realization came that Aalsmeer no longer had a claim to victory.

Reactions and a summary of the match will follow on NH Sport later.
