Aalsmeer handball player Donny Vink is in the Orange squad for the first time. “I hadn’t checked my mail yet. Then our keeper René de Knegt texted me that I was in the preselection. Then I quickly checked my mail,” says Vink.
“I did not expect it and this is a really cool surprise. I think I have performed well in the past two years and I have also started the competition with Aalsmeer well this season,” says Vink enthusiastically. The left corner player has just started his fourth season with Aalsmeer.
On Thursday, October 13, the Orange squad will play a European Championship qualifier against Belgium. That game will be played in Den Bosch. A game against Greece is scheduled for Sunday, October 16.
Insecurity
The 24-year-old handball player once played a youth tournament with the Orange under 21 team, but then it remained silent. “I am very happy that I am being seen. That feels nice, because you have been a bit insecure lately.”
Samir Benghanem (Aalsmeer), René de Knegt (Aalsmeer), Jeffrey Boomhouwer (Aalsmeer) and Evert Kooijman (Volendam) are also in the preselection.
