Defending champion THW Kiel meets second division club SG BBM Bietigheim in the round of 16 of the German Handball Cup. That was the result of the draw at the league headquarters in Cologne.
The team of THW trainer Filip Jicha has to play away on December 21st or 22nd. The northern duel between SG Flensburg-Handewitt and HSV Hamburg was also drawn.
The German champions SC Magdeburg and Bundesliga leaders Rhein-Neckar Löwen still have to play their second-round matches.
The SCM will play at Eulen Ludwigshafen on November 22nd, the Löwen will play at SC DHfK Leipzig on November 2nd. If successful, Magdeburg will play against Bergischer HC and Mannheim at MT Melsungen.
