At the end of the 3rd round of the DHB Cup, three more handball Bundesliga teams said goodbye to the competition.
TSV Hannover-Burgdorf surprisingly failed 29:31 (12:12) at second division team SG BBM Bietigheim. TBV Lemgo, cup winners in 2021, were eliminated by a score of 25:31 (12:15) against league rivals Frisch Auf Göppingen. TVB Stuttgart lost to ThSV Eisenach 25:26 (11:13). Bergische HC, however, had no trouble, prevailing over HSG Nordhorn-Lingen with 35:27 (19:12).
The day before, record champions THW Kiel, HC Erlangen and Bundesliga newcomers HBW Balingen-Weilstetten had already failed. In the round of 16, which will take place in mid-December, there are four second division clubs: Bietigheim, TuS N-Lübbecke, TuSEM Essen and Eintracht Hagen. Then cup winners Rhein-Neckar Löwen, last year’s finalists SC Magdeburg and third-placed SG Flensburg-Handewitt will also enter the competition.
