The defeat against the leader of the preliminary round group B was a few goals too high, but it was deserved because the Poles were superior to the north Germans in all respects – and in goalkeeper Andreas Wolff they had the outstanding man on the plate. Emil Jakobsen with six goals for Flensburg as well as Dylan Nahi and Igor Karacic and six goals for Kielce were the best scorers of the evening.
The advantage over seventh, which would mean the end of the premier class, is only one point because FC Porto got a point in Veszprém. The Portuguese are guests in Flensburg on March 2nd. Before that, the SG has to compete in Paris on Thursday in a week’s time.
No getting past guest keeper Wolff
The Schleswig-Holsteiners got off to a bad start in the game and were already 0:3 behind after three minutes. And even after that, things didn’t really go well for the Bundesliga side: Hampus Wanne missed two seven meters. But the SG found its way back into the game and in the meantime fought its way up to one goal (6:7/15.). However, the equalizer did not succeed because Wolff showed an outstanding performance in the goal of the guests and, among other things, saved Emil Jakobsen’s seven-metre throw.
Kielce doesn’t let Flensburg get close
Even after the restart, the Flensburgers bit their teeth off the ex-Kieler. While Kielce reliably threw goal after goal, the hosts missed the best chances (13:18/37.). The speech by trainer Maik Machulla during a break did not change that.
Flensburg – Kielce in shorthand

The SG simply didn’t come close (20:24/47.), because Kielce played incredibly variably both defensively and offensively. Five minutes before the end, the home side were still five goals behind (24:29). Would there be another exciting final phase? No, Wolff’s 15th save and the subsequent 30:24 for the Poles sealed the deserved Flensburg defeat (57th).
