Status: 06.09.2022 12:50 p.m

The handball players of SG Flensburg-Handewitt meet the Polish representative MMTS Kwidzyn in the second qualifying round of the European League. That was the result of the draw on Tuesday at the European Handball Federation (EHF) in Vienna.

The team of SG coach Maik Machulla has to play away on September 27th and then has home rights in the decisive second leg on October 4th. Kwidzyn had finished fourth in the Polish league in the 2021/2022 season. The club’s coach is former international Bartlomiej Jaszka, who played for Füchse Berlin for nine years in the Bundesliga.

He took note of the lot, Machulla said at a media round. He doesn’t know the club yet, but “Bartlomiej Jaszka knows how handball works and how the Bundesliga works”. For the SG coach, the Bundesliga home game on Wednesday against GWD Minden is currently in the foreground. After the close 31:30 start at HSV Hamburg, “everyone has to invest more,” Machulla demanded. Against HSVH, his team was “naive in defense and not very consistent in attack”.

Göppingen plays against Lemgo

A German duel was also drawn with the match between Frisch Auf Göppingen and TBV Lemgo Lippe. The winners advance to the group stage, which starts on October 25th. In the foxes Berlin, a Bundesliga club is already seeded for the group stage.
