Magdeburg with a convincing defensive
Magdeburg started defensively well with newcomer Oscar Bergendahl, and Nikola Portner in goal also distinguished himself early on with saves. Nevertheless, the game remained tight because Magdeburg made a few mistakes up front (5:4/12th). Above all, the Danish world champion Rasmus Lauge kept the guests in the game with his goals. Magdeburg dropped back to three or even four goals several times, but the scoreboard only showed a narrow lead at the break.
At the beginning of the second half, the guests equalized, Magdeburg found it more difficult in attack and had to work harder to score their own goals. However, the SCM survived this phase and for the first time gained five goals (25:20/46.). After a foul on Robert Weber, Veszprém’s Dragan Pechmalbec saw the red card (47th) and the SCM then didn’t let the victory go away.
