Canayer was also responsible for the top club’s greatest triumphs. In 2003, the team won the Champions League for the first time, inheriting SC Magdeburg, who had won the trophy a year earlier. In 2018, the French repeated their great success in the premier class. In total, Montpellier won 14 national championship titles.
