As one of five teams, TuS Metzingen also started the new season of the Handball Bundesliga victoriously on Saturday (September 10th, 2022). Bietigheim had previously celebrated a runaway victory.
Metzingen defeated the Vipers Wildungen with 32:27. The best thrower of the TuS was the outstanding Dagmara Nocun with 14 hits. On Wednesday, the game between Zwickau and Bietigheim gave the starting signal for the new season. The champions, who had no loss points last season, celebrated a 36:15 victory.
Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen victorious
BVB defeated Union Halle-Neustadt on Saturday with 34:24 (20:13). The best scorer on the field was the Dortmund backcourt player Alina Grijseels with eight goals. Dortmund finished last season in second place behind SG BBM Bietigheim. In the run-up to the opening game, the dismissal of two BVB players and allegations of abuse caused unrest at the club.
Bayer Leverkusen, on the other hand, suffered an away defeat at the start. The Leverkusen team lost 28:33 (15:15) at HSG Bensheim/Auerbach. After an even first half, the hosts finally pulled away in the second half. Leverkusen player Viola Leuchter and HSG player Lisa Friedberger were the top scorers with eight goals each.
Neckarsulm wins the derby
In the southwest derby, the hosts from VfL Waiblingen lost out to Sport-Union Neckarsulm. Waiblingen lost at 23:30.
HSG Blomberg-Lippe also starts the new season on Sunday with the game at Buxtehuder SV. VfL Oldenburg and Thüringner HC also meet.
