On Thursday (November 24th, 2022), Füchse Berlin won the top game at the Rhein-Neckar Löwen in the Handball Bundesliga by 34:32 (16:16) and thus maintained their lead in the table.
Coach Jaron Siewert’s team is three points ahead of record champions THW Kiel, who have played one game less. Third are the Rhein-Neckar Löwen.
Without Gensheimer and Jaganjac
Mannheim played without their two injured regulars, Uwe Gensheimer and Halil Jaganjac, against the foxes. The game was balanced until the middle of the second half, then the Berliners took advantage of a sudden break-in by the hosts and temporarily opened up a gap of five goals.
With eight goals each, backcourt player Lasse Andersson and right winger Hans Lindberg were the foxes’ most successful throwers. National player Juri Knorr scored eleven times for the hosts.
Groetzki extends until 2026
Before the game, the Rhein-Neckar Löwen had announced the early contract extension with their captain Patrick Groetzki. The right winger, who has been playing for the club since 2007, signed until 2026. National player Groetzki is expected to play his 500th Bundesliga game for Mannheim in the coming season.
Leipzig scores 40 times against Melsungen
The fans at DHfK Leipzig saw a shooting match with a total of 73 goals against MT Melsungen. At 40:33 (18:21), the guests were superior for a long time before their defense completely collapsed after the change of sides.
The best shooter in Saxony was Sime Ivic with eight goals, Orjan Larsen scored six goals. In the end, eight goals from Casado Marcelo and seven from Kai Häfner were not enough for the Hessians.
Wetzlar wins in Hanover
HSG Wetzlar managed a surprise with the 26:23 (14:10) victory at TSV Hannover-Burgdorf. The Hanoverians needed too long to find their timing in the end, only ten goals in the first half were simply not enough in the end.
No one scored more than four goals from the field for the hosts, with Maximilian Gerbl still adding three seven meters. At Wetzlar, Lenny Rubin shone the most with eight goals.
Hamm-Westphalia further deep in the basement
At the bottom of the table, things continue to look bad for ASV Hamm-Westfalen. At GWD Minden there was a clear 23:32 (9:16) bankruptcy. Minden remains penultimate, but is only one point behind FA Göppingen.
Minden’s best throwers were Mohamed Armine Darmoul (seven goals), Philipp Ahouansou and Luka Sebetic (both six). Jan Pretzewofsky and Savvas Savvas each scored five goals for ASV.
