Thanks to an outstanding goalkeeper Kevin Möller, especially in the first half, SG Flensburg-Handewitt achieved their next victory in the handball Bundesliga in the fight for the international places.
Möller made a total of 21 saves in the 33:25 (14:9) win against the Rhein-Neckar Löwen and led Flensburg to their eighth competitive win in a row.
While the Rhein-Neckar Löwen are now in seventh place with an even points ratio, Flensburg is closing in on MT Melsungen in third place on points.
Jacobsen best Flensburg thrower
In front of Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck, Emil Jacobsen was Flensburg’s best thrower with seven goals. On the side of the guests from Mannheim, only Niclas Kirkelökke was able to convince with nine goals. Just a week earlier, the Danish world champion had announced his move to Flensburg for the coming summer and left a good impression on his future employer.
From the start, the lions bit their teeth on Möller. Only after ten minutes did Jon Lindenchrone score the first goal of the game. At halftime, the SG goalkeeper had already made an incredible 17 saves, and 65 percent of the guests’ shots were stuck to him.
His counterpart also paid tribute to his colleague’s performance: “It was an outstanding day for Kevin Möller. He held up incredibly well in the first half.”
In the second section without any problems
In the second half, the hosts managed their lead confidently and have not lost a point in their own stadium this season.
