Al-Qassam, the armed branch of Hamas, shared a video on Telegram on Monday in which three Israeli hostages ask their own government for release. The video ends with the three men repeating the phrase in unison: “Don’t let us grow old here.” Israel is talking about a “malicious terrorist video.”

A man who identifies himself as 79-year-old Haiem Bery speaks.
“I am here with a group of elderly people, who all have chronic conditions. (…) We are the generation that laid the foundation for the creation of Israel. We built the Israeli army. I don’t understand why we are left to our own devices. You must set us free, whatever the price (…) Don’t let us grow old here.”
The video ends with the three men repeating the phrase in unison: “Don’t let us grow old here.”
A spokesperson for the Israeli army is talking about a malicious terrorist video. “This shows Hamas’ cruelty towards old, innocent civilians in need of medical care,” said Daniel Hagari, who also said Israel would do everything to bring the hostages home.
