Hamann warns Klopp against Bellingham transfer: “A big risk”

Europe’s footballing elite are lining up for a Jude Bellingham transfer. The Englishman will almost certainly leave BVB next summer – and for quite a lot of money. That’s exactly what ex-national player Dietmar Hamann sees critically. He therefore warned his former club from Liverpool against buying the 19-year-old.

For how much money Jude Bellingham will end up “over the counter” can only be speculated as of today. Estimates of 100 and more million euros do not seem unrealistic given the huge potential of the Englishman. And should such a high offer actually be on the table in the summer, the black and yellow would probably give their jewel the green light for a change out of economic reason alone.

Dietmar Hamann hopes that his former club from Liverpool will not participate unconditionally in the bid for Bellingham. “I would be careful with Bellingham at the moment,” warned Hamann in “talkSPORT“-Interview.

Yes, the Englishman is an “extraordinary talent,” added the 49-year-old: “But if Dortmund demands 100, 140 or 150 million euros, then it’s also a big risk.”

Why does Hamann warn the Reds to be careful? “I think Bellingham needs to find a position first. He sees himself a bit like Steven Gerrard, but I don’t think he has Gerrard’s ability and speed going forward. So you’ll have to wait and see where Bellingham is midfield in the future.”

For this reason, the former international repeated, a Bellingham commitment for well over 100 million euros is a “big risk”.

Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp assesses the situation differently. In his eyes, Jude Bellingham doesn’t act or act like a teenager. “If you ask someone how old he is, most would probably say 28 or 29,” he said recently, enthusiastically about the England international, whom he described as “simply extraordinary”.
