Former Bundesliga player and current TV expert Dietmar Hamann believes that Bayern’s dominance in the local league will end in the next few years. Borussia Dortmund in particular will make a step forward despite the impending loss of their top scorer.
What would Borussia Dortmund have been like in the last two and a half years without Erling Haaland? Certainly a few goals poorer! The Norwegian has scored an incredible 82 goals in his 86 appearances for BVB. There are also 23 templates.
But the dangerous attacker is on the way to Manchester City or Real Madrid. The transfer to one of the two European heavyweights could be completed in the summer. According to Dietmar Hamann, those responsible for BVB don’t have to worry about not being competitive afterwards. On the contrary.
“Dortmund will be better next season, even if Haaland is gone,” surprised the 48-year-old in “Sport Bild” with a view to 2022/23.
Hamann explained the reason for his optimism about the black and yellow afterwards: “If there in the central defense next to [Niklas, d.Red.] still [Nico] Schlotterbeck is more important to me than a striker who scores 25 or 30 goals every season.”
Borussia will find a Haaland replacement “who is also good for 20 or more goals,” Hamann explained. German national player Karim Adeyemi is currently the most likely successor to the BVB shooting star who is willing to emigrate, for whom an interested party would have to shell out 75 to 90 million euros in order to activate his exit clause.
Hamann expects other champions than Bayern
In the end, Dortmund’s Borussia will be “better positioned overall” thanks to the new additions to the defense, emphasized Hamann, adding with a view to FC Bayern, who recently secured the championship for the tenth time in a row: “I can certainly imagine it that we will see other champions next season or in the next few years and that the dominance in Munich will not continue like this.”
In addition to BVB, the TV expert and former DFB kicker can also count on RB Leipzig.
“They are playing an excellent second half of the season and have a top player in Christopher Nkunku,” praised Hamann. And even if this exceptional talent succumbs to the reputation of Manchester United and Co., the Saxons should still remain a factor in the title. “If they can’t hold Nkunku, I assume RB already have a player up their sleeves.”
