Because no investor could be found for the insolvent Munich fashion chain Hallhuber, the trademark rights and the domain are now being auctioned off publicly. This will probably seal the fate of the previous Hallhuber GmbH. Until recently, industry insiders had hoped for a restructuring and continuation – especially Norbert Steinke, who was CEO of Hallhuber until 2017. In a post on LinkedIn two days ago he wrote: “We failed! The following sentence sums it up best: At the beginning there was no money, in the end we ran out of time.”
Almost at the same time, the German deposit recovery company Ostermayer & Dr. Gold GbR the public auction of Hallhuber’s intellectual property based on contractual lien. Intellectual property includes the trademark rights for the Hallhuber brand with the sub-brands Donna Hallhuber and Donna by Hallhuber as well as their domains. The auction is scheduled for February 22, 2024.
The auction will take place live on site at 2 p.m. at Bierhäuslweg 9 in Dietramszell and at deutsche-pfandverehrung.de. The starting price for the Hallhuber and Donna Hallhuber trademark rights is 500,000 euros, and for 28 domains from Hallhuber GmbH it is 14,000 euros.
Steinke goes on to write in his thread that he apparently knew nothing about the auction and points out that important assets such as sample pieces, sketches, measurement tables and size specifications as well as a fabric library were apparently not accessible. Customer data also appears to no longer be available.
Hallhuber GmbH had to file for bankruptcy in May 2023 after the company had completed another insolvency procedure just two years earlier. The shops and online store have been closed since the end of October 2023.
Just a few days ago, the founder of Hallhuber, Klaus Hallhuber, died at the age of 76.
