It still hurts Halina Reijn what René van der Gijp said about her seven years ago, on May 11, 2015. “I just experienced it. And no, it’s not funny.”
Halina Reijn is a favorite direct object of the men of VI. They’ve been stalking her for years. “Oh, what a terrible person”, said Johan Derksen in that particular broadcast from 2015. René van der Gijp then: “A whole platoon of ME really has to get over that. Holy shit, what a creep that is!”
Angry at Twan
To make matters worse, Halina was confronted with those images a few months later when she was a guest in the College Tour of presenter Twan Huys. “Did you see that part?” he asked. She: “Yes, of course I saw that. Several people have shown me that.”
Twan asked if Halina was okay with showing the clip, but she didn’t want to. He then showed it again. Afterwards, somewhat annoyed: “I think it’s interesting that you want to show this to me. (…) I find it very unpleasant to look at. I think this is going too far.”
‘She’s too ugly’
Seven years later, Halina still finds it difficult to talk about that TV attack. It is addressed when they in de Volkskrant talks about her insecurity and the fact that because of her appearance she never leading lady can be in a movie. Oh yes, I’ve been told that so many times.”
Halina continues: “But also more direct: she is too ugly. In the Netherlands for sure. A renowned manufacturer at the time wanted to have prostheses made to make my face more symmetrical.”
‘I don’t want to see it’
Then Halina touches the VI fragment. “I doubt you should put this in your piece, but when I was in College Tour they showed a clip of Voetbal International, where it says something like: what a creep that is, I wouldn’t send my dog there yet .’ I don’t remember exactly and I don’t want to look back, but it was something like that.”
She finds it incomprehensible. “I just experienced. And no, it’s not funny.”
