In order to keep public services future-proof and comprehensible, it is necessary to simplify laws and regulations. People must be central. This is what Ministers Karien van Gennip (Social Affairs and Employment) and Carola Schouten (Poverty Policy, Participation and Pensions) write in the State of the implementation of social security, which today, together with the bottleneck letters from UWV, the SVB and the National Client Council (LCR) sent to the Chamber.

The State of implementation informs the Senate and House of Representatives twice a year about what is going on in the implementation of social security. With annual bottleneck letters, the UWV, the SVB and the LCR provide insight into the bottlenecks that citizens encounter in legislation and regulations, and the choices and dilemmas that play a role in this. The bottleneck letters were presented to Minister Schouten on Wednesday evening during the Evening of Public Services.

A number of bottlenecks previously pointed out by the implementing organizations have now been addressed. For example, the government has submitted a bill to stop people who have been behind in paying their premiums for some time no longer reducing their AOW benefit, on top of the regular fines. A bill will also be introduced around the summer that will make it possible for the SVB to grant double child benefit without an application for children with a Long-Term Care Act (Wlz) indication. Furthermore, UWV can now share client data with municipalities for help with debts. The outstanding bottlenecks are often complex and require further investigation. Both ministers indicate that they will work on this.

The Status of implementation further examines the consequences of the tight labor market and ICT for the implementing organisations, the developments surrounding enforcement, the opportunities and risks of data exchange and, finally, the developments in services such as the opening of joint counters where citizens can go easily. be able to.
