Calculations by the Ministry of Finance show for the first time how many farms are affected by the government’s nitrogen plans, NRC reports. According to the calculations, the current nitrogen strategy of the cabinet will result in 11,200 farms having to close and another 17,600 farmers will have to significantly reduce their livestock, by a third to almost half.
