The trio Haim, consisting of the sisters Alana, Danielle and Este Haim, has to deal with her entire career to be put into a pop band drawer by many people. In a new interview with the “GQ” you will now find explanations in which you primarily criticize the narrow-mindedness of the rock community.
“Prince also danced”
In particular, many of the “classic” rock fans don’t seem to like that many dancing on the stage. Haim does not miss the opportunity to move more on stage. It is simply part of your stage program for you. However, the majority of the rock community seems to have a problem. “Although we are a rock band, we love movement,” explains Danielle Haim. Este continues that Prince would also have danced. He was celebrated for this. The sisters assume that the reason for the criticism lies in the fact that the rock community sees their dancing as a weakness. Again and again they want to put them in a box with the inscription “Pop”.
Men have something to complain about
In addition, Haim has to deal with men regularly who do not accuse them of performing live. Comments under videos of your live appearances that doubt the authenticity of your performances do not have too rarely. The band regularly appears with wireless guitars, which mostly prompted men to claim that the sisters would not play live because the guitars are not connected to amplifiers with endlessly long cables.
“We love to dance and we love to make people laugh, and for some reason it is a no-go.” “I think it’s all pretty out of date,” says Este. “The whole setup is … who cares? This is really old -fashioned. We have stopped taking care of it.”
New album “I quit” will be released on June 20th
The new Haim record is scheduled to be released on June 20. Under the title “I Quit”, the group already publishes its fourth studio album.
