Northern Italy was hit last night by a ‘supercell’, the heaviest possible thunderstorm with hail balls the size of tennis balls. Especially in the area around Lake Garda, the damage is enormous. Flemish tourists talk about apocalyptic situations. “Due to the force of the hail, the roof tiles of our bungalow fell in, just next to the children’s bed,” says Jonas (30).
