The KNMI has issued code yellow for Friday evening throughout the country due to local thunderstorms and wind gusts. Reports of, for example, heavy hail and thunderstorms come from all over the country.
The A12 between Arnhem and Utrecht is very slippery due to a hailstorm. An accident also happened there, Rijkswaterstaat Traffic Information reports. The A12 in the direction of Utrecht is therefore close to Wageningen, reports the ANWB.
The accident caused a traffic jam. Both traffic services advise motorists to drive via the A50 and the A15. Rijkswaterstaat Traffic Information warns road users to take the circumstances into account.
The ANWB warned earlier on Friday for gusts of wind, rain and local hailstorms.
Kamasutra exchange vacated
The Jaarbeurs, where the Kamasutra fair is currently held, has been evacuated. The reason is a crane near the property. It is feared that it may fall over due to the weather conditions, reports a spokesman for the Security Region. According to the spokesperson, the Jaarbeurs itself has decided to evacuate as a precaution and this is not at the request of the Security Region.
The organization of the Kamasutra fair itself reports that the hall of KamaSutrA has been evacuated due to “the risk of collapse of a crane that is right next to the hall. At the moment everyone is busy getting information about when we can move on. Stay tuned.”
Lightning
During a violent thunderstorm, lightning struck a house on the Karel Doormanlaan in Bussum. The chimney was blown off the house. During the lightning strike, the resident was in the shower. She was not injured and quickly called the fire department.
Sliedrecht also had to deal with violent thunderstorms. Several trees were hit by lightning. The trees were splintered and ended up in a schoolyard and in a ditch.

The match between Almere City FC and PEC Zwolle in the Kitchen Champion Division was briefly halted on Friday evening just before half-time due to a thunderstorm above the stadium. He resumed the game after about 20 minutes.
More matches have or were affected by the bad weather on Friday. Telstar – VVV-Venlo was also interrupted. Furthermore, the game between FC Dordrecht – Young AZ started more than fifteen minutes later, also because there was a thunderstorm.
