TV star Mama June’s eldest daughter, aka June Shannon Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell28, has a very rare cancer.
Anna was diagnosed with advanced adrenal cortex carcinoma, or ACC. Worldwide, ACC is found in an average of one to two people out of a million, and in the Nordic countries, for example, around 25 to 30 new cases of ACC are found each year.
This week, Mama June gave an interview about her daughter’s illness to Entertainment Tonight magazine. He said that his daughter has been undergoing cytostatic treatments.
He says that he first noticed in August 2022 that something was wrong with his daughter. Anna went to the hospital because of her back pain. Eventually, Anna had the cyst removed, but her health only worsened.
Mama June describes how a few months later her daughter had lost all her hair. The cancer had also spread to the liver, spleen and lungs when Anna was diagnosed.
At first, Anna suffered from stomach pains. The tests revealed that the cancer had spread to the liver, kidneys and lungs. She says that at the moment her daughter sleeps a lot and is unable to eat every day.
– As a mother, we have had conversations that you don’t want to have with your child, she says.
– You are never ready, but we know what can happen, Mama June says in an interview.

Anna has two children: Kaitlyn10, and Kylee7. The children’s father is Anna’s ex-husband Michael Cardwell. Like her mother, Anna became pregnant as a teenager.
– His children know about it (cancer). A 10-year-old more than a 7-year-old, he says.
Despite the situation, the family has remained hopeful. They expect new results on May 9.
