For example, Russia may target Finland more sensitively during the summer holidays. According to the director of the Central Chamber of Commerce, you should start preparing immediately.
Lev Dolgachov
According to the Central Chamber of Commerce Finland is more vulnerable to potential hackers and distractions during the summer holiday season. During the summer, disruptions can intensify and affect companies either directly or indirectly.
Harassment companies, depending on the entity, can force company employees to work during the holidays, and could target a large number of ordinary companies, estimates the project manager Panu Vesterinen.
– Harmful actions could be preventing the operation of a certain bank’s bank cards, interfering with store cash systems or card readers, preventing the operation of ATMs, hindering the operation of fuel pumps at gas stations, interfering with train traffic, interfering with Internet connections and the GSM network, he warns.
Disruptions of the services considered as automatic services would immediately hinder the summer holiday season.

Is Russia more sensitive to interference?
According to Vesterinen, the perpetrator is not always a foreign state. Sometimes domestic hackers can also cause a lot of trouble during the holiday season.
Vesterinen, however, thinks that Russia could more sensitively target interference with Finland with NATO membership and with the war of aggression started by Russia moving into a new phase.
– The war in Ukraine has progressed to a new phase, and with that, Russia may be more sensitive in targeting countries that support Ukraine in its fight. Malware that destroys information has been detected during the war, he says.
However, he estimates that the harassment would hardly hit the entire country at once, but would be limited regionally or by actors. They would hardly be long in time.
This is how you prepare
Vesterinen reminds that companies themselves are responsible for securing operations and ensuring continuity.
– In companies, it is good to think about what if something like this were to hit the company, for example, during Midsummer. Or your files would be locked with ransomware and you would receive a ransom demand from the criminals to release the files? Would the company have backups from which to restore the information necessary to continue the business?
Disruptions can be prepared for, for example, by planning vacations in such a way that critical employees are not on vacation at the same time.
– For smaller companies, however, this may be impossible, and therefore it would be important for companies to go through a possible contingency plan before the holiday season, says Vesterinen.
Security of supply centers and authorities have prepared for threats together with companies that are critical to security of supply.
The Central Chamber of Commerce urges companies to agree on substitutes in advance in case of possible disruptions. It is also good to be up to date on the timeliness of continuity plans and the roles of people in the plan.
A checklist prepared by the Central Chamber of Commerce
A checklist for companies on preparation
1. Agree in advance who or who will be on standby if something requiring a response happens. If the company has a continuity plan, this information should be found in it. Check that the possible plan and name lists are up to date and that the people are certainly aware of their roles.
2. Make sure that these people have sufficient authority to make decisions to ensure continuity. The manager who normally makes the decisions may be unreachable during vacation.
3. Think about whether the company’s services or goods can be offered and sold without working information systems? Pen and paper are a workable solution for many short interruptions.
4. It would be a good idea for spare persons on vacation to ensure that there is enough fuel or charging in the vehicle for the return trip. So you should refuel or charge the vehicle when you come to the summer resort.
5.Also make sure that backups are taken regularly, of the necessary data and that restoring the data works.
6. Make sure that the employees also have a 72-hour home supply recommended by the Security Service Center at home or in the cabin.
