VF Corporation was the victim of a hacker attack.
The US clothing company has discovered a number of “unauthorized accesses to some of its information technology systems,” the VF Corporation announced on Tuesday. The company’s operations, particularly the processing of orders, are currently impaired due to access to the IT systems.
The full extent of the incident and its nature are not yet known, but VF Corporation believes it is likely to have a significant impact on the company’s operations until recovery efforts are completed. Although the company took immediate action to contain and assess the problem and shut down some of its systems, operations were disrupted, with some IT departments encrypted and company data stolen. The stolen data also includes personal information.
The company is working to bring affected parts of its systems back online and implement alternatives to offline operations to reduce disruptions, but some operational disruptions cannot be ruled out.
