Most recently, Haas team boss Günther Steiner criticized Mick Schumacher. After qualifying at Silverstone, he spoke again about his driver.
According to his team boss, Mick Schumacher is on the right track in Formula 1 despite the recent disappointments and criticism. “He has improved significantly. He just has to get over this hurdle of the first points. He knows that he can do it,” said Haas race director Günther Steiner before the Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday (4 p.m. in the t-online- live ticker). However, the road to his debut points in the racing series will be a long one for Schumacher from 19th on the grid in Great Britain.
During the qualification on Saturday, the Haas team had apparently messed up the steering adjustment for the 23-year-old. “A small mistake that has an extremely large impact. The steering wheel was hanging quite far to the left,” said Schumacher.
Most recently, Steiner counted Schumacher publicly
This made it difficult for him to control his car on a wet track. Most recently in Canada, a defect stopped him in a promising position early in the race. “He just has to be a little more lucky,” said team boss Steiner. After a few accidents in the first races of the season, the Italian publicly counted Michael Schumacher’s son (read more about this here).
“He showed in Montréal in the race that he’s there. He has the self-confidence. He just has to get the points now to prove that it’s possible,” said Steiner.
For Schumacher, his second year in Formula 1 is also about his future. His contract with Haas ends after this season. The first negotiations are expected for the summer break in August.
