On the women’s side
“The initiative aims to guarantee visits and consultations quickly to patients affected by tumors of the female genital sphere” says Dr. Francesco Raspagliesi, Director of the Gynecological Oncology Unit of the National Cancer Institute of Milan. «The Institute’s specialists will guarantee evaluations within three working days: time is a determining factor in oncology, due to the impact it has both on the clinical and on the psychological side» continues Raspagliesi.
New diagnoses for endometrial, ovarian, cervical, vulvar and vaginal tumors in Italy are around 18,000 each year, they recall from the Irccs of via Venezian. And when it comes to gynecological tumors, the sooner we intervene, the greater the chances of survival and even recovery. Research is making great strides and today there are therapies available that change the quality of life of patients. «Scientific research and technological innovation are integral parts of a holistic management of the patient, who is placed at the center of the diagnosis and treatment process. For this reason, the Milan Cancer Institute wants to guarantee women an increasingly high quality of care, in the shortest possible time» concludes Dr. Raspagliesi.
