For almost two years, Elisabeth Seitz hadn’t done all-around gymnastics. In her comeback, she won right away – and extended her record.
The German record champion Elisabeth Seitz has won her 24th national title. The woman from Stuttgart confidently prevailed in the all-around on Thursday (July 6th, 2023) in Düsseldorf. The 2018 World Cup third placed with 52.700 points Emma Malewski and (52.100 points) and Pauline Schäfer-Betz (50.850 points) in second and third place.
Seitz also best on uneven bars
The decision for Seitz was made in the final discipline on the floor: With 12,700 points, the 29-year-old from Swabia delivered a sovereign performance and maintained her overall lead with the third-best result on the floor. Seitz had previously won on the uneven bars, finished fifth on the balance beam and sixth in the vault.
First multi-fight since Tokyo 2021
“It doesn’t feel like everyday life at all. On the contrary.”Seitz said after the competition on ZDF about her 24th championship gold. “Every title is something special and this year the all-around title is something special because after the Olympics in Tokyo I decided not to do all-around gymnastics again. I haven’t done a four-way gymnastics like this since Tokyo. To become German champion means a lot to me. It shows me that it’s worth it.”
