Status: 06/24/2022 5:00 p.m

Sarah Voss is German all-around champion in gymnastics for the second time. Defending champion Elisabeth Seitz was not able to intervene in the decision.

Voss from Cologne gave a convincing performance and won the four-way battle in Berlin on Friday (06/24/2022) with 53,200 points. In 2019, the now 22-year-old won the all-around title in Berlin for the first time.

Voss’ joy about title “huge”

“I’m really happy, I haven’t even unpacked everything yet. I’m already very satisfied, regardless of whether there are more medals at the weekend,” said the new title holder on the ZDF microphone.

Concentrated to the tips of her hair, the student set the standards from the very first device. And she benefited from the fact that her main competitor Kim Bui from Stuttgart missed the upper bar with her hands on the uneven bars and fell. Nevertheless, it was enough for the 33-year-old to take second place behind Voss (52.050 points).

Third place went to Emma Malewski from Chemnitz (51.050) in front of the new national coach Gerben Wiersma.

Record champion Seitz only twice on the devices

Defending champion and record champion Elisabeth Seitz was not able to intervene in the decision for all-around gold. The 28-year-old from Stuttgart did not compete on all devices due to a lack of training and thus missed her 24th title for the time being.

The Olympic fifth place on uneven bars only did gymnastics on her special apparatus, on which she qualified for the individual final this Saturday (11.30 a.m.) with the best value of the day of 13,500 points, as well as on vault.

Schäfer-Betz is a fixture at the European Championships in Munich

Pauline Schäfer-Betz from Chemnitz also missed two apparatuses, but the Vice World Champion on the balance beam should still be a fixture at the European Championships in mid-August as part of the European Championships in Munich. Like Seitz, the 25-year-old is also in the medal decision-making process on her special apparatus.
