National soccer player Giulia Gwinn has made her comeback on the pitch after tearing her second cruciate ligament.
The 24-year-old came on as a substitute in the 61st minute of FC Bayern Munich’s friendly against TSG Hoffenheim. “It was incredibly nice to be back on the pitch, even more emotional than the first comeback. I also think I can be happy with my performance and I hope that I can get more minutes in the next game so that I can play for I’m ready for the new season,” said Gwinn after the 2-2 win, according to the club’s website.
Captioning photos of her substitution, Gwinn wrote on Facebook: “322 days of hard work paid off. What a special and emotional moment.”
The defender tore her cruciate ligament for the second time in October and returned to FC Bayern team training at the end of May. In the meantime, she also had hopes of participating in the World Cup, but was not nominated.
