Registration of the Russian vaccine against coronavirus “Sputnik V” by the World Health Organization is “inevitable” declared in an interview with the Serbian newspaper Politika, the head of the Center. Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg.

“We are convinced that the registration of our vaccine with WHO is inevitable, because the effectiveness and safety of Sputnik V have been confirmed by scientific facts in more than 20 publications in the world’s leading medical journals,” he said.

The adenovirus platform on which the drug is based is “completely safe,” Gunzburg continued. According to him, this platform has been studied for more than 30 years, and when using it, experts have not identified serious side effects associated with “some other vaccine platforms”, in particular inflammation of the heart muscle.

Russia submitted an application to the WHO for accelerated registration of Sputnik V in October 2020. In September 2021, the approval process was suspended. Then the WHO inspection found violations at one of the factories where the drug is produced. Later, the Kremlin reported that all violations at the enterprise had been eliminated.
