Günther Steiner and Ralf Schumacher end the dispute

Former Haas team boss Günther Steiner will be at the Bahrain Grand Prix for the first time in his new role as an RTL expert. Due to the partnership with “Sky” concluded for the 2024 season, he will meet, among others, ex-pilot Ralf Schumacher, with whom he had clashed several times in the past. After a conversation, the dispute is now over once and for all.

Günther Steiner and Ralf Schumacher settled their differences on the sidelines of the Bahrain Grand Prix (Saturday, 4 p.m. live on RTL and Sky).

“We had a short conversation yesterday. It wasn’t that bad, you can quickly discuss something like that,” explained Schumacher on “Sky”: “We had different opinions and both had our points of view. Everything is good.”

Steiner, standing next to ex-pilot and reporter Peter Hardenacke, confirmed with a smile: “We have decided that we have different opinions. Everything is fine, we will carry on.”

Steiner: “I never had a problem with Mick”

There was a dispute between the new RTL expert, who provides his assessments from Bahrain for the TV station, and Ralf Schumacher, especially over the question of how to deal with Mick Schumacher. He drove for the Haas racing team for two years – under team boss Steiner.

Ralf Schumacher had criticized Steiner, among other things, for not giving his nephew “a fair chance” when it came to filling the cockpits for the 2023 season. “As an experienced man and also as a father, you don’t treat a young person like that,” he also criticized the way the former Haas team boss treated him.

Günther Steiner now confirmed that he had no “problem” with having a clarifying conversation with Mick Schumacher. He also promoted his perspective: “But people also have to understand the situation I was in. These are things that can be explained better when you are no longer directly involved and can talk openly. I never had that with Mick personally a problem.”

The South Tyrolean had previously spoken to RTL/ntv and sport.de announced that he didn’t want to “avoid anyone” in his new role as an expert: “You get along with some people, you don’t get along with others, that’s life. I don’t give myself any problems, otherwise you’ll put yourself under pressure. “
