Gundogan wants to cancel suspension through summary proceedings | 1Limburg

Member of Parliament Nilüfer Gündogan has filed summary proceedings against Volt’s parliamentary group. She wants her suspension to be reversed, Volt’s statements rectified and compensation for damages.

Her lawyers have said so in a statement.

Suspension
Gundogan, who was born in Turkey and raised in Weert, was suspended by her party on Sunday for transgressive behaviour. She is still a member of the House of Representatives, but at the insistence of her party does not participate in debates and does not appear in the media. The nature of the allegations leaves the party uncertain. According to Volt, this is necessary to create a safe atmosphere for reporters.

Gundogan’s lawyers Geert-Jan and Carry Knoops say that the MP “regrets that it had to come this far, because she has given Volt the opportunity several times in recent days to settle the situation amicably.” She says that ‘no solution satisfactory to her’ has been reached. Lawyer Carry Knoops declined to comment further on Friday.

No cooperation
The MP has informed de Volkskrant that she has no confidence in the investigation that Volt has opened and that she will not cooperate in it. The party board and the House of Representatives faction confirm the latter and say they ‘regret’ this in a written response. They also blame her for contacting the media.

Complaints
Gündogan further states to the newspaper that there is only one complaint against her. That contradicts the party. Volt has stated all week that there are several complaints. The party attributes the fact that it does not yet know the exact content of the complaints to the fact that it did not respond to an invitation from the investigation agency. The party believes that the investigators should inform it of the details during the rebuttal process.

According to the statement of the Knoops’ lawyers’ office on 28 February in Amsterdam, the summary proceedings are to be filed.
