Guitarist Chris Shiflett hints at new record

After the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, it was initially unclear how the group would continue: They canceled all performances and did not speak further about the future of the band. Now guitarist Chris Shiflett said on the show “The Plug” that he expects another album in the future.

Justin Jay of The Plug asked Shiflett in an interview if other interviewers had mentioned Hawkins’ death, or if it was “an elephant in the room” that nobody really wanted to talk about. “Most of the people I’ve encountered have been respectful or tried to avoid it. It’s probably going to be an issue if we ever do another Foo Fighters record and go back to promo boogie-woogie,” Shiflett said.

“It made me rethink everything”

He continued, “I remember when I joined Foo Fighters, that was in 1999, which was a while after Kurt Cobain’s death, but I watched interviewers tie knots and try to get Dave [Grohl] asking about it, but then not asking. I would have thought something like this would happen.”

“People are pretty respectful, but it made me reconsider everything I thought I knew about the death of Jim Morrison or Randy Rhoads or any other rock ‘n’ roll tragedy. Taylor was a big personality who meant a lot to millions of people, so I understand the fascination of his death, but a lot of what I’ve seen out there is completely wrong,” he continued.

“Some people say Dave killed Taylor”

Addressing the rumor that some believe Grohl had something to do with Hawkins’ death, he said: “There are people who say Dave killed Taylor because he forced him to get the Covid vaccine. Do you want to make something like this out of it? you can fuck me I try not to pay attention to it, but it makes you angry because that shit is just disrespectful,” says the guitarist.

The second Taylor Hawkins tribute concert will take place in Los Angeles on the evening of September 27th. Alanis Morissette, Miley Cyrus, members of Queen and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, ex-Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, Pink and Nandi Bushell, among others, pay tribute to the late drummer – hear the full line-up here up

The current, tenth studio album by the Foo Fighters “Medicine At Midnight” was released on February 5, 2021. Taylor Hawkins died on March 25, 2022 at the age of 50 while on tour in Colombia.
