Guido den Aantrekker, editor-in-chief of Story, does not believe that there is a Hazes fatigue in our country. “That is mainly between the ears of journalists. André is so popular.”
André Hazes jr. no longer sells out concerts, his comeback single has not even reached the lower regions of the Top 40 and now that he no longer hops from one Sarah to the other, there is no juice rooster crowing at him anymore. It is obvious that people are now done with it, but according to Story boss Guido den Aantrekker that is nonsense.
Book with shine
André in particular is simply extremely popular, says Guido. Why the magazine maker says that is of course transparent. He is two hands on one belly with Rachel Hazes, was once asked by André to become his stepfather and most importantly: since this week there is a biography about André in the shop, written by… Guido.
Where is the launch party actually? There isn’t one, probably because André himself also realizes that it’s not convenient at the moment. Guido, however, speaks of an ‘economic motive’. “We put some of the money we save with such a big party into the book itself. (…) If you look at this cover, for example, there is a kind of gloss about it.”
Hazes fatigue
Guido narrates Show news that he also wanted to keep the book under 20 euros ‘per se’ in order to be accessible to a large audience. But hasn’t that general public already dropped out of André?
Colleague Bart Ettekoven puts it to Guido: “Aren’t you afraid that… Because of course you often hear people say: ‘Oh, I’m so tired of Hazes.’ And those concerts in Ahoy don’t sell out. Is it the right time to come up with such a book?”
Guido does not believe in Hazes fatigue: “You never know, Bart, but what you are describing now: I must say that it is mainly in the minds of journalists and the media.”
Insanely popular
Despite everything, Guido still thinks André is an A star. “If you really look… And especially in Belgium, because this book is published by a Belgian publisher in the Netherlands and in Belgium… Then it is immensely popular there. It is very different there, but in the Netherlands you notice that the general public – and certainly also the Hazes fans – really like it.”
Hazes fatigue is normal, according to Guido fake news. “It is a bit much with the journalists and media outlets writing about him… Yes, of course they also create…”
Airen Mylene intervenes: “Yes, well, and also a bit that ticket sales are not going so well for the concerts.”
Objective book
Despite being intimately entwined with the entire Hazes family, Guido speaks of an ‘objective book’. “He really deserves this biography, although it is unauthorized, so he did not participate in it. I have agreed with André that as soon as the book is finished, we will have a cup of coffee.”
He concludes: “I’ll make a cup of coffee and he a glass of ginger tea and then I’m going to give him the book. I’ll write something sweet in it for him, because he’s still just a murder guy. Then he can read it.”
