Gucci is building a new shoe factory in Italy with 400 jobs

Gucci is building a new factory in the Italian Marche. The factory will produce uppers for Gucci formal shoes and athletic shoes, the company said on Tuesday.

The more than ten thousand square meter factory will be located in the city of Recanati. The implementation is outsourced to the shoe manufacturer Pigini, which also belongs to the Gucci industrial network and is based in Recanati. Construction work will start in 2023 and should be completed in spring 2024. The announcement does not say how much the project will cost.

“With this new factory we want to ensure the survival of the production tradition in the region and pass on the craftsmanship of sewing and our passion for the product,” says Fausto Pigini, founder and CEO of the company of the same name.

Starting this year, new employees are to be hired. They start at Pigini before starting at Gucci and continue their training in the meantime. Above all, Pigini wants to appeal to unemployed young people.
