The Italian fashion house Gucci has given its prestigious store in New York’s SoHo district a makeover. On Saturday, the boutique at 63 Wooster Street reopened after extensive renovations.
The redesign was conceived as a homage to “the liveliness of New York” and the “values of Italian beauty and craftsmanship,” said the label, which belongs to the French luxury goods group Kering SA.
Artworks from several decades and Italian design classics were integrated into the furnishing concept. These elements are in line with the “contemporary aesthetic” of head designer Sabato De Sarno, who was appointed last year, and thus put Gucci’s current collections at the forefront, according to a statement.
Since 2018, Gucci has been using the historic premises of a former pencil factory on Wooster Street with an area of almost 930 square meters. There the label is now again offering its current fashion collections for men and women, the “Gucci Valigeria” luggage line as well as shoes, jewelry and accessories. Even after the redesign, the range will be supplemented by the “Gucci Wooster Bookstore” bookstore, which specializes in photo and art books.
