There is no end to the popularity of Marco Schuitmaker’s hit ‘Guardian Angel’. This year, out of nowhere, the song came in third place in Omroep Brabant’s Top 900. Guus Meeuwis is once again the undisputed number one this year with ‘Brabant’.
Since the start of the Top 900 in 2006, it has never been different: Guus Meeuwis leads the list with our unofficial anthem. After Guus, Danny Vera is in second place with ‘Roller Coaster’.
Marco Schuitmaker from Groningen performed the same as Jan Biggel, who came from nowhere at number three last year with ‘Ons Moeder zeej nog’. This party hit drops one spot to number four this year. ‘Guardian Angel’ has been high in the charts for weeks and was Marco Schuitmaker’s big breakthrough. The song has Brabant roots, because it was written by Pierre Kartner in the 1970s.
Never voted so much before
This year, a record number of votes were cast on Omroep Brabant’s annual Top 900. Friday morning from nine o’clock, presenter Hubert Mol will start with number 900. The entire list can be found at www.omroepbrabant.nl/top900.
