Herbert Grönemeyer: 4630 Bochum (1984)
Herbert Grönemeyer’s album “4630 Bochum” will be 40 years old next year. The musician is celebrating this milestone birthday next summer with two exclusive concerts in Berlin and Bochum. Advance sales for the two anniversary performances start on Thursday, July 6, at 11:00 a.m. Grönemeyer announced this on its social media channels.
The first concert will take place on June 8, 2024 in the Berlin Waldbühne. Another performance will follow on June 12 at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion in Bochum. Tickets for the two anniversary shows will initially be available Eventim to be available. The general pre-sale will then start on Saturday, July 8th at 11:00 a.m.
Bochum 4630 was released on May 11, 1984. It is the singer’s fifth studio album and, with over 2.75 million copies sold, is one of the best-selling albums in Germany. The album, whose title refers to Bochum’s postal code at the time, stayed in the charts for a total of 79 weeks. It was awarded gold eleven times and contains Gröni’s successful singles “Men”, “Flugzeuge im Bauch” and “Alkohol”. In March of this year he released his 16th studio album Das ist los.
Grönemeyer previously published a teaser for the upcoming shows on his Instagram channel. The small clip shows a recording of a concert in Bochum in 2015. His “Steigerlied”, which is considered the unofficial Ruhrpott anthem, can be heard in the background.
