Groen Nooitgedacht stops: ‘No more nature to fight for’

Action group Groen Nooitgedacht has dissolved itself last weekend. This in response to the felling of a spruce grove, which the action group opposed. It concerns a plot of four thousand square meters.

The trees have been cut to allow a row of forest villas to be built on the same site. The municipality of Aa en Hunze has commissioned this. The action group agrees that the spruce grove was in poor condition, but thinks that nature could still be developed there.

Stop fighting

The action group says it has been in contact with the municipality after a consultation. “There would be consultations prior to the cap”, Groen Nooitgedacht says in a press release. “It was quiet for a while, and then suddenly the lots of the spruce forest were on Funda.”

Spokesperson Ellen Fleurke: “With the felling of the spruce grove, there is no longer any noteworthy nature to stand up for in Nooitgedacht. That is why we stopped the fight.”
