The ex-member of Grizzly Bear has now opened his own practice.

Ex-Grizzly Bear member Ed Droste: “The next step in my career”
It was last in 2017 when Grizzly Bear made an appearance with the album PAINTED RUINS, which received 5 out of 6 stars from ME editor Arno Frank. After that it became very quiet around the band from New York. Droste still worked here and there as a guest musician, for example on Haerts’ track “For the Sky” or Morrissey’s “Morning Starship”. Apparently, the singer was busy with something completely different – namely studying psychology.
Now Droste has a doctorate and can officially practice as a therapist. He has already opened an associated medical practice. This is located in the Los Feliz district of Los Angeles and is ready to take in the first patients, as Droste’s Instagram profile says: “I’m really looking forward to the next step in my career and starting my self-employed work as an associate announce therapist. I offer virtual as well as in person sessions for adults and youth in Los Feliz. […] Thank you everyone for your support!”
Already 2020, in the podcast “Lunch Therapy“Droste said in an interview that the topic of mental health is very important to him. “[Es] has always fascinated me. It’s a tightrope act to be on tour and get your shit together at the same time,” Droste explained in an interview. “[Das Bandleben] broke me, I was so tired of it and besides, I didn’t appreciate it as much anymore. [Das Psychologiestudium] is a welcome change… Another reason I left the music industry for good — or maybe I’ll come back, never say never — was that I was tired of measuring my success and my career by public perception and reaction. I eventually figured out how to deal with it, but for the most part it just dragged me down.”
Meanwhile, Grizzly Bears Christopher Bear and Daniel Rossen have music for the movie “Past Lives(Theatrical release August 10, 2023).
